Environmental Engineering Students Win 2024 BCWWA Competition

Congratulations to Team Thunderbird Rainwater Solutions, comprised of 3rd year ENVL students Elizabeth Liu (team lead), Harshvardhan Shaw, Nicolas Cho, Benjamin Buchheit and Clair Merchant, the winner of the 2024 BC Water and Waste Association (BCWWA) Student Design Competition.

The 2024 BCWWA partnered with the City of Vancouver for the Student Design Competition’s challenge: to assess the feasibility of different blue green system typologies along West 1st Avenue, in the Olympic Village neighborhood of Vancouver, with considerations for storm water quality and flood management.

The award ceremony for the winning team is set to take place at the BCWWA Annual Conference and Trade Show. The team will also compete at the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference in New Orleans in the fall.

Team Thunderbird Rainwater Solutions’ achievement in the BCWWA Student Design Competition serves as a testament to their hard work and dedication to developing innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Congratulations!
